How To: submit your images for club contests
Digital images need to be presented in a specified format if you want to enter them in our club competition.
-
Three images maximum: Each person may enter a maximum of three images for the evening. Those three images may be distributed (in any manner you wish) between digital projection and conventional slide projection.
Resize your entries to a maximum of 1024 pixels wide for landscape oriented images, or 768 pixels high for portrait oriented images, up to 300 ppi resolution, and save in high quality JPEG format. Keep the file size below 900kb.
Example in Photoshop CS2: First import your image, and do your adjustments. When everything is to your liking, resize the image via >Image>Image Size:
Then, in this order, set the Resolution to 300 pixels/inch, and the Width to 1024 pixels maximum for landscape oriented images, or to a Height of 786 maximum for portrait oriented images. Note that the height will automatically be adjusted when you set the width, and vice versa. When this is done, save your image via >File>Save for web. Choose jpeg optimized, and check the ICC profile checkbox. Set the quality as high as possible, but make sure the total size of the image does not exceed 900K (see the lower left corner of the Save for Web window. That's it!

How To: submit your images for your personal gallery
Well, that could not be easier. Edit your image to your liking (preferably on a calibrated monitor), and save it as a jpg file with optimal quality (no resizing). Name it using the Naming Conventions (see How To: submit your images for club contests). Then email your image to the Web Master, and it will magically appear in you own gallery (after a few days). That's it! The web master will resize the image for the web, in such a way that the risk of image theft is minimized (72 ppi, 490 pixels maximum horizontally or vertically). After the resized image is incorporated in your gallery, the original will be physically deleted, both from the file system and from the email application. All personal galleries will contain a copyright notice, however, this is not a guarantee against theft. If you worry about theft, then you should not post on the web.
